It was clean and modern, and it had a refridgerator which was nice. My room was a corner room and huge for one person. I got it off of a travel site, so I did not pick it directly, but for $35/night, I figured I wouldn't have much to complain about. I stayed here when I visited the city for a job interview. Next time I'll try walking over to Gold Coast as well. But for a short stay, if you get a good rate, and if you know how far from the strip it is, or if you were only planning on being off-strip I'd definately come back. If you plan on coming and going to and from the strip a lot it would be annoying especially if you want to come back really late. This 5* review is of course based on knowing the Rio is off-strip (and with a great rate). Mostly played table games elsewhere so can't comment on that. Met a bunch of fun people playing the slots too. Using the ipads the drinks came very quickly and the guys taking the order were quick to make suggestions. Nothing is worse then poor drink service. Great vibe in the casino and drink service was exceptional. Saw the show in the sky thing once and it was fun to watch. Forgot how greasy pizza hut is but the order came quickly! Got pizza hut room service one night on a whim.

Did eat at the buffet and it was only OK (will do separate review of that). Would have been great to stuff some guys in the room for a poker game or something. Bed was comfortable (1 king), huge TV (flatscreen), nice separated washroom area with closet, fridge, and a huge open concept bedroom area with a living area. Even if the room wasn't 'upgraded' it was still very modern and clean. Didn't bother upgrading to a higher or better view so ended up on a lower floor with a view of the mountains. Had booked direct from the hotel a few months ago and when the property was on sale through the cyber-monday sale a quick call to the Rio reduced my already good rate to a better one. Stayed for 2 nights at the Rio in early December from a Friday through Sunday.
